Pizza places in the United States run from a counter with two stools and a stack of boxes to a full sit-down pizzeria with a bar, and most neighborhood shops do all three things at once: dine-in, takeout and delivery. Ordering by phone is still common and often faster than an app, and many independents charge less when you call direct because there is no platform fee. Sizes are usually listed in inches (a small around 10", a large 14", an extra-large 16" or more), and a large feeds two to three adults. Slices are sold from a display case at New York-style counters and reheated to order; whole pies take 15-25 minutes at a busy shop. Most spots take cards and mobile pay, though a few older pizzerias remain cash-only, so check the door or the listing before you order.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11 am–9:30 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (949) 722-1212. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, alsnewyorkcafe.com.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 368 reviews, which is a strong result for a pizza restaurant in Costa Mesa and suggests consistent service.

I absolutely love this place. Their staff is the best. Al’s quickly became my new favorite pizza place as soon as I moved here a couple months ago. Their pizza is top tier and some of the best I’ve ever had. I highly recommend Al’s when you’re considering ordering pizza next, you seriously won’t regret it!!

Fantastic place to eat at! Ive been going to Al's for years and just never got around to reviewing them. Ive also only ever had their pastrami sandwiches up until this last time. I finally tried their pizza and pasta, and I gotta say that pizza is incredible. The pasta was really good too.

The piazza came to us very fresh so fresh that the chees was stretching. The service was super good the food came to us in under 15 mins. Great place overall I will definitely be coming here again!

Speechless to say the least.... I just had one of the best cheese steak sandwiches in my life! At first bite, there was an explosion of flavors that had me (as I said) SPEECHLESS! Y'all really did your thing! Ill definitely frequent this place for this sandwich alone, but I know you can't go wrong with their pizza either. Alright, let me go back to eating this delicacy, thank you for an amazing dinner!πŸ‘Œ

Great Customer service and friendly staff, the food is amazing. I don’t even know where to start the pizza itself is great, the pasta w meatballs is top notch amazing. Got put on and honestly have no regrets trying this place, staff let me know prices and went through the menu without pressure. So far I have to try more of the foods here and I recommend to try if you’re from OC or just visiting. :)

I walk in, (my first time meeting there) and the sandwich Cheif (maybe part owner or owner) idk but he didn't smile. Turn off but he did make a good Italian submarine sandwich. One other thing is the boy tipped himself OR IT WAS AUTO TIPP of 3.01 that I haven't noticed until hours later upon looking at my reciept. My sandwich was 13.00 but paid over 18. So I called and the guy said my cashier at lunch accidentally hit tipπŸ€₯ but also said he thinks its automated tip. So which is it?? He did say he would refund the tip. Im still waiting. U will however call tomorrow to find out why they think they can automate a tip from customers who haven't tipped and not tell you. Thats shady and dishonest and I will never set foot in there again.

So I heard about this spot because of a passenger. The meatballs are plentiful, the bread is soft on the inside crispy on the outside, could use a tad bit more garlic though, im a garlic lover. You can order the side of meatballs and garlic bread and make two sandwiches out of it. Portions are a bang for your buck. Pastrami was good. The service was great. Order ahead, they are busy. @feo3924 on the tok to see more foodie reviews.

If you haven't met Al, you're missing out on one of Costa Mesa's true hidden gems!! For over 30 years, Al's New York Cafe has been serving up the kind of food that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled upon something special, and it’s clear why this place has such a loyal following! Al's is where you go when you're craving that perfect slice of New York-style pizza. My pick: the NYC Special, piled high with sausage and pepperoni… just like you'd expect from a classic New York pizzeria, but right here in OC. But it doesn’t stop at pizza. The deli sandwiches are a standout too. Their classic pastrami is piled so high, you'll wonder how you’re going to take the first bite (hint: just dive in and don’t worry about it). Also, LOVE that they offer pizza by-the-slice options, perfect for those days when you just need a quick fix! Al's is truly the kind of place where you walk in as a customer but leave feeling like a regular. This place is superb!!!
